​​Her new horror comedy series Don't Freak Out (Scholastic) is a fun but spooky ride. The series includes a kid who has eyes on his knees, a shrieking sheep and a creepy window to the future. She co-wrote the series with her favourite person, funny man Andrew Hansen.

​

​She co-wrote and illustrated the ancient Egyptian adventure series Bab Sharkey and the Animal Mummies (Walker Books) which came to life as an audio series published by W.F Howes UK . This opportunity allowed Jess to perform all the silly voices she could dream up for her rotting characters.

 

Jess's book Stuck in a Handstand! (Walker Books) is part of the hilarious Paw Prints series and helps kids who are stuck in a handstand. ​

She writes and illustrates all sorts of stories but often finds  smooshing horror and comedy together to be the most fun. She creates her illustrations with black ink then magically sends them across to her unreliable computer so she can digitally shrink the many large heads she managed to draw.

 

Her favourite things to draw are animals (especially strange ones), big eyeballs and unusual landscapes. Her least favourite things to draw are hands, people standing straight and walls.
